Coronavirus Guidance on MOT and Test Centre

Article Date: 27 May 2020

Covidvirus Guidance 27th May

The Government have published guidance today that focuses upon how to operate an MOT and Test Centre.

The rules are very straightforward and are set out on the attached link.

Coronavirus: MOT centre and tester guidance

What is clear is that this guidance is more about health and safety for both customers and staff in terms of the MOT and test process, as well as the welfare of customers within the premises.

Importantly, it outlines two features that I think will be commonplace once trading begins in earnest;

  1. The MOT certificate will no longer be available except as a downloading which the customer can see / print at home

  1. The guidance is specific in advising that cash in not used and that in order to enable MOT’s to be processed by card, the contactless limit of transactions is being increased to £45.
