As the met office declared last month to be the wettest February on record, police in flood hit South Wales declared a temporary critical incident. Meanwhile emergency services, councils and other bodies have worked hard to try and protect, property, infrastructure as well as residents.
In addition, several Welsh Automotive retailers have been badly affected by the recent flooding, Griffin Mill ( Renault, Dacia and Nissan) and Hutchings of Pontypridd (Vauxhall and Hyunday) have been completely wiped out. Other retailers are also believed to have been badly hit.
In a positive move to help some of those affected, ASE founder Trevor Jones has stepped into offer support arranging to buy 100 cars from trade to help restock Hutchings. It is hoped to fund and deliver 30 cars over the coming week.
Although being covered by the requisite insurance will negate any significant long term losses, not having a stock of nearly new and used vehicles is putting the day to day survival of the dealerships under immense pressure.
By getting access to a supply of pre-approved quality used vehicles from ASE hopefully our Welsh customers will be able to carry on trading during this most difficult of times.
